We all know we SHOULDN'T let our dogs lick our faces, and especially our lips. I mean . . . think about what dogs spend most of their time licking, and what they do when they meet other dogs. So it's obviously unsanitary for them to lick YOU.
--But here's something we didn't realize. It's also unsanitary FOR THE DOG . . . because we're not exactly a bacteria-free species either.
--According to a new study published in the "Archives of Oral Biology", researchers found that dogs can pass bacteria to humans by kissing them . . . but humans can ALSO pass bacteria to dogs.
--The main bacteria that are passed in both directions are perio-donto-pathic bacteria, which make you and your dog more susceptible to mouth and gum disease.
