According to research by Dr. David Spiegelhalter of Cambridge University, here are five unhealthy things people do every day . . . and how much they SHORTEN your life.

#1.)  Smoking a pack of cigarettes shortens your life by five hours . . . which adds up to two and a half months if you do it every day for a year.      

#2.)  You lose two hours of life expectancy a day . . . or one month a year . . .  just by being a man instead of a woman.  

#3.)  Eating one serving of red meat shortens your life by half an hour . . . or seven and a half days over a year.

#4.)  Watching two hours of television a day also shortens your life by a half hour.  So this season of "The Bachelor" is going to cost you a full DAY of your life.

#5.)  Every alcoholic drink after your first one shortens your life by 15 minutes.

--And here are five healthy things you can do . . . and how much LONGER you live by doing them.

#1.)  Eating five or more servings of fruits and vegetables in a day adds two hours to your life each time you do it.  That's a month added to your life over a year.      

#2.)  Doing 20 minutes of cardio adds an hour to your life each time . . . or two weeks a year.  

#3.)  Doing another 40 minutes of cardio after the first 20 minutes adds another half hour.  So doing an hour a day will get you three extra weeks of life over a year.

#4.)  Drinking two or three cups of coffee a day will make you life a half hour longer.

#5.)  Drinking ONE alcoholic beverage adds a half hour to your life.  And since each extra drink takes away 15 minutes, that means that, from a life-expectancy standpoint, you can have three drinks a day . . . for FREE.

I can imagine a group of guys getting high, and one of them says, "Do you think we could, like, LIVE in a house made of weed?"  And another guy says, "Totally, bro."  But then someone ruins it by saying, "No way, man, we'd smoke our own walls!"

--Anyway, a group of MICE just lived out that fantasy.  So suck on that, burnouts.

--In Wichita, Kansas, the police had three large bags of marijuana in their evidence locker.  Some mice tunneled into the evidence room, chewed through the bags, ate a BUNCH of marijuana . . . then built themselves a NEST made out of REEFER.

--Evidence clerks found them, evicted them from their weed nest, then reweighed the bags.  They didn't say how much marijuana the mice had eaten, but a spokesman says it was enough that, quote, "We've got some mice that are stoners."

According to a survey of hiring managers by OfficeTeam, these are seven phrases you should avoid putting on your resume, because they're OVERUSED and MEANINGLESS.  Here they are, along with the ways to REPLACE them.

#1.)  "Highly qualified."  Instead, you should list specific qualifications.

#2.)  "Hard worker."  Show how meeting deadlines and handling a large volume of tasks PROVES you work hard.  

#3.)  "Team player."  Give examples of how you worked well with other people.

#4.)  "Problem solver."  Highlight a problem you were able to solve.

#5.)  "Flexible."  Mention a major change you responded to at your job.

#6.)  "People person."  Again, you should give a SPECIFIC example instead of just saying it.

#7.)  "Self-starter."  Show how you took action without being prompted.

On Wednesday afternoon, sheriff's deputies went to a house in Castro Valley, California for a "probation compliance" check.  And they found that, no, 32-year-old Assif Mayar was NOT complying with his probation.

--Inside the house, police found 34 pounds of dried, processed marijuana.  But they couldn't get to it right away, because it was inside a Plexiglas tank . . . being guarded by an ALLIGATOR.

--The alligator was FIVE FEET long.  Assif told the cops the gator's name is Mr. Teeth . . . and Assif bought him in 1996, quote, "to commemorate the death of TUPAC SHAKUR."

--We're not exactly sure how buying a marijuana-guarding alligator and naming him Mr. Teeth honors Tupac.  Perhaps just pouring a little bit out of a 40 would've sufficed?  But I guess we all grieved for Tupac differently.

--Assif was arrested for possessing marijuana for sale.  Mr. Teeth was taken to the Oakland Zoo where he's being treated for some serious health problems.

Sheldon Cooper is going to totally geek out over this story: A biologist in Brazil has named a new species of bumble bee Bazinga. Viewers of The Big Bang Theory will recognize "Bazinga" as the catch phrase uttered by Jim Parsons, who plays the nerdy doctor on the CBS sitcom.

Brazilian biologist Andre Nemesio said "Euglossa bazinga" was the ideal name for this bee “because it had tricked scientists for some time with its similarity to other species.”
